With over 110 of our own vehicles, we deliver to our 1,925 branches throughout Germany, five days a week. From our Logistics Centres in Coesfeld-Lette in Münsterland, in Klieken near Dessau and our Regional Centre in Schwarzenbek, the colleagues in our fleet drive to several company-owned stores on fixed rounds and supply our Ernsting’s family stores with new goods.

We deliver to around 2,000 stores throughout Germany. The starting points for the individual rounds are located throughout Germany at our sites in Coesfeld-Lette in Münsterland, Klieken near Dessau and Schwarzenbek near Hamburg. We also have various depots throughout Germany. We are regularly looking for drivers in the vicinity of these locations to help us with our deliveries. HI, I’M EUGEN!

I’ve been working for the company as an HGV driver since 2007. I started here with an internship in the Shipping department. After my internship, I ended up staying on as a dispatch driver and then worked as a stand-in. This means that you don’t have your own round yet and that you have to fill in for other colleagues when they are away on leave or sick. I now have my own fixed round and even my own lorry, which I was allowed to choose and configure according to my own requirements.

I STARTED HERE WITH AN INTERNSHIP IN THE SHIPPING DEPARTMENT.

MY TASKS

I deliver to my stores, which means I load my HGV with goods in the Shipping department and then deliver them to the stores. On return journey, I usually take work materials or goods that need to be redistributed to other stores. I also wash my lorry – usually every Friday – so that it’s always in good shape.

WE HAVE A GOOD WORKING ATMOSPHERE. I OFTEN TALK TO MY COLLEAGUES ON THE PHONE WHILE I’M DRIVING AND WE MEET UP FOR BARBECUES QUITE A LOT.

FLEXIBILITY AND PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY

What I value the most about my job are the great vehicles. The HGVs are always serviced and older vehicles are regularly replaced with the latest models. I work very independently and don’t have any pressure from above. A certain degree of flexibility is helpful. I can start my round according to my personal assessment and experience, and if necessary, I can also swap stores with other drivers.

I LIKE BEING A DRIVER FOR ERNSTING’S FAMILY BECAUSE I GET TO RETURN HOME EVERY DAY AFTER WORK.

HI, I’M ANDREJ!

I have been working as an HGV driver at Ernsting’s family since 2011. I heard about working at Ernsting’s family through a friend and was lucky enough to be able to join him on a few rounds. This gave me a good insight into the work. As I liked the look of the work, I decided to get my HGV driving licence. A little later I started as a delivery driver at Ernsting’s family and I then went on the road as a stand-in. I have been doing my own fixed rounds, during which I deliver goods to between eleven and thirteen stores, for about three years now.

A DAY IN MY LIFE AT WORK

My daily routine is always pretty similar. I start by loading my HGV and then deliver to the stores in succession. At the stores, I give the pallets of goods to the sales staff and take any empties or rubbish from the store away with me. Back at the site, I unload my HGV. There’s always time for a nice chat with my colleagues.

BESIDES THE JOB SECURITY, I LIKE THE FACT THAT I AM ABLE PLAN MY DAY AND I’M ALWAYS HOME BY AROUND 10 OR 11 PM. I EVEN HAVE WEEKENDS OFF, SO I HAVE ENOUGH TIME FOR MY FAMILY.

What makes Ernsting’s family special, in my opinion, is that even though you’re on your own all day, you can still keep in touch with your colleagues via the telephone. We all get on very well and if you have any questions, everyone is always happy to help. I feel like I’m part of a great team and I feel very comfortable here!

WORKING IN LOGISTICS

In addition to our fleet there are many other exciting challenges and entry-level opportunities in the area of logistics. Goods are delivered from all over the world to our modern distribution centres in Coesfeld-Lette and Klieken and are then picked according to demand. We are responsible for a superb logistical effort that we handle exclusively in-house.
