OPERATION AND FURTHER DEVELOPMENT OF OUR E-COMMERCE PLATFORM

We take care of the administration, operation and development of our core products, such as our web shop, iPIM, various microsites and iMail.

SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT

We are responsible for developing and maintaining internal software solutions and interfaces at both at a strategic and at an operational level.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Our project managers are responsible for the planning, organisation and coordination of the individual steps and phases of our projects.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

With the help of our specially developed test automation, we systematically test all e-commerce functions, from the requirement to the implementation.

TEST MANAGEMENT

We manage test designs and implementations – both automated and manual – with the goal of increasing the test automation.

HI, I’M DANIEL!

I’ve been working for Ernsting’s family since the beginning of 2018. I decided to work here because I wanted to develop my skills further. Through an acquaintance, I had heard how large the IT department at Ernsting’s family was. I was really impressed. I now work as a Scrum Master in E-commerce IT.

In my role as Scrum Master I am a facilitator, coach and mentor. The core function of my job is helping the team to be successful.

THIS IS HOW WE WORK

We take the feature and tool requests of the Digital Business department, among others, and implement them or we take a more proactive stance and approach the departments with our own ideas. There are always new projects for us to be working on. Last year, for example, we dealt with things like performance optimisation and online staff store. I really appreciate the freedom I am given here. This can be seen, for example, in the free discussions with the other IT departments which can happen at any time depending on the issues that we are currently faced with. We are agile and always open to new things. At our company, you can enjoy the security of a solid family business with the spirit of a modern start-up. It’s never boring here. There’s always lots going on. Things can get very demanding at times, so you need to make sure that you set time aside to relax if you want to work in this team. Due to the specifications of our web shop and our customer base, several things often have to be solved quickly. The company gives a lot back though, whether it’s the summer parties, workplace equipment, architecture or benefits, to name just a few of the advantages we get to enjoy here. You also get a lot of appreciation from the managers.

WE ARE A SUPER TEAM!

Everyone has the right antennae and is there to help you if you’re struggling or leaves you alone when you need time for yourself. We have a lot of fun together, talk nonsense to each other sometimes, take breaks together and like to meet up outside work. People who work here have to be professionally competent, but shouldn’t take themselves too seriously either. It’s important for us to be honest with each other. Our motto is that everyone in the team gives their best at all times. That means we can always rely on each other.

HI, I’M PATRIK!

I’ve been working as a Quality Manager in the E-commerce IT department at Ernsting’s family since 2018. A total of 13 colleagues in our team are responsible for the web shop. Two of us are currently responsible for quality assurance. We make sure that everything works as it should – for both completely new requirements and for the release changes every three weeks.

WHAT I PARTICULARLY LIKE ABOUT MY JOB IS MY TASKS AS PROJECT COORDINATOR.

In this case, I plan the test and am in close contact with the other departments. I also participate in every single E-commerce project, which makes my job very varied. One project, for example, is the optimisation of the search function in the online shop for our customers.

What I appreciate about Ernsting’s family as a company is its family atmosphere, the strong interpersonal communications and the appealing architecture at our site in Coesfeld-Lette. You really feel at home here right from the start.

THIS IS HOW WE WORK

Our programmes focus on Confluence and Jira. We use Soap UI and Postman as testing tools. It’s helpful if you’re already familiar with these programmes – but it isn’t a requirement. It’s actually far more important to be open and communicative. We work a lot with our colleagues from the Digital Business, Customer Service and Application Development teams. There are also various individual projects during which you will be required to work together with the Financial Accounting department or completely different teams, for example. We work on a strongly networked basis throughout the company. That’s why it’s important to be open-minded and have a good grasp of everything, as we often have to adapt quickly to new topics and processes and also take on tasks that we are sometimes unfamiliar with.

It’s more interesting here than in the consulting company where I previously spent about four years working. In my experience, you are much more involved in decisions here.
