As a Professional Driver at Ernsting’s family in Coesfeld-Lette you’ll be responsible for getting our latest products to the right place at the right time, but you’ll also stop off at our workshop and shipping departments from time to time. WHAT AWAITS YOU IN YOUR APPRENTICESHIP

OUR HGV’S

Learn everything about our modern, technically advanced and very well-maintained Mercedes Benz, MAN and Scania vehicles. You will have approximately 100 company-owned vehicles at your disposal and, of course, you will also obtain an HGV driving licence.

SAFETY

Safety always comes first, both during your apprenticeship and afterwards. This is why we want to teach you how to drive safely, secure your load and maintain your vehicle – whether it’s an 18-tonne truck or a 36-tonne articulated lorry.

OUR GOODS JOURNEYS

Get to know the journeys taken by our goods: Our logistics department is responsible for deliveries to our 2,000 branches in Germany, Austria and the Netherlands as well as orders in our online shop. You will learn all about our highly complex logistical processes and help ensure that everything is in the right place at the right time.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

In addition to working in logistics and spending time in the cab of your HGV, you will also learn about how the engine, chassis and mechanical and electrical systems of an HGV work at our nearby vehicle workshop.

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

In addition to your apprenticeship, we also support you with your personal development. You will learn how to cooperate and communicate with colleagues and external partners in a trusting way and how to act independently and in a future-oriented way. Your personal development is also complemented by seminars, smaller projects and events.

HAVE YOUR SAY, PARTICIPATE, SHAPE THINGS

Your ideas and opinions are always welcome. We look forward to discussing with you and hearing new input from you! So that you can contribute directly at Ernsting’s family, you will also be given your own small projects and learn to take on an increasing degree of responsibility for your tasks. You can also help shape your apprenticeship individually and together with other apprentices.

After your apprenticeship, there are many paths you can take in your future career. When you finish your apprenticeship, we will take the time to look at what the next steps in your career could be together with you.

Many of our apprentices want to stay with us and continue learning after their apprenticeship. We will also be happy to support you here!

FACTS AT A GLANCE

DURATION OF YOUR APPRENTICESHIP

Three years (under certain conditions a reduction is possible, we will be happy to assess on an individual basis)

APPRENTICESHIP LOCATIONS

Distribution centre (Industriestraße 14a, 48653 Coesfeld-Lette) and a nearby vocational college (one to two days per week)

WORKING HOURS AND HOLIDAYS

37.5 hours per week and 30 holidays per year

START OF APPRENTICESHIP

Start in August, next apprenticeship start: 2025

HOW THE APPRENTICESHIP IS STRUCTURED

During your apprenticeship you will work in our Logistics department, will focus on shipping and will learn how to prepare goods for shipping, load trucks and make deliveries to our stores. You will also acquire an HGV driving licence and we will draw up an individual shift plan for you which will also include shifts in other areas of the company.

In addition to working in shipping and acquiring your HGV driving licence you will also gain an insight into all of our logistics processes. You will even have the opportunity to learn and develop your technical and mechatronic skills at our nearby vehicle workshop.

At vocational college you will learn the necessary technical and background knowledge needed to work as a professional driver. The apprenticeship is rounded off with regular feedback meetings, internal seminars, events and workshops.

SUPPORT DURING YOUR APPRENTICESHIP

MENTORS FROM THE APPRENTICE COMMUNITY

In the first year of your apprenticeship, you will be allocated a second year mentor who is there to help and advise you. You therefore have a mentor who was in a similar situation to you last year.

TRAINING STAFF IN OUR DEPARTMENTS

In every department there is at least one trainer who is there for you throughout your apprenticeship!

Do you have questions about your work, or maybe you don’t quite understand a task? Not a problem – on the contrary! In addition to your trainer, your colleagues will be happy to help you at any time.

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE

Interest in motor vehicles and good technical knowledge

YOU LIKE GETTING ACTIVE

You should enjoy physical activity now and again when you aren’t driving.

SCHOOL LEAVING CERTIFICATE

You should have a secondary school leaving certificate (equivalent to a Hauptschule or Realschulabschluss in Germany)

TEAMWORKING SKILLS

You want to contribute to our team with your attentive and reliable approach

INTEREST IN LOGISTICS

You have a considerable interest in getting our fashion items to their destination on time as well as the ability to easily grasp logistics connections and processes

INDEPENDENT

We place a lot of trust in you - but always give you the preparation and support that you need
